The Chamonix Valley is a world-famous ski destination for a reason, with fantastically varied terrain from mellow lift accessed off-piste runs found alongside classic ski tours and massive ski mountaineering missions. Just as important from my perspective is the vast possibilities within an hour of the front door, with resorts such as Courmayeur, Les Contamines, St Gervais, Ovronnaz and Verbier all accessible in a day hit, and the untapped gems of Arolla and Grimentz within a two-hour radius. For those willing to earn their turns we can ski from the road in the Aravis range, escaping the crowds to find great snow long after the last storm.
Ratios for ski guiding can vary from 1:1 to 1:6 based on the objective, to be discussed during the planning stage.
Off-Piste Skiing
With an intimate knowledge of the local and regional skiing possibilities I can find the best lift accessed off-piste skiing based on prevailing conditions. This can include a descent of the Vallée Blanche or one of its steeper variations, with over 3000m of height loss between the Aiguille du Midi lift and town.
Classic Tours and Ski Mountaineering
Either on single day tours or multi day hut-to-hut trips, I’ll design our days out to make the most of both the journey and the ski back down. Skis can also make ascending some of the highest alpine peaks easier and more enjoyable than in summer conditions, and for the more ambitious we can combine skiing with alpine climbing to reach more challenging summits.
